Hello, today I want to share with you some inspirational non-traditional 9 spare bedroom ideas that you can use to create your own space.

Maybe you are just like me, you have a spare bedroom and are unsure what you could really do with it. You know the possibilities are endless but you just don’t know where to start.  Maybe you don’t want the traditional guest bedroom feel but want to use your spare bedroom as something you can use everyday.

You want to design a cute little spare bedroom of some kind other than just an empty guest room but are not sure how to make it play out to where it has a specific purpose. If that is you, you came to the right place. Below are some ideas you can do to turn your spare bedroom into something other than a guest bedroom.

Pin for later! 🙂

Music Room

Music! If you are a musician and love to play your instruments no matter what it is from guitar to piano, to even your drums, then you can create your very own studio room!

Put up some Music posters, fun wall decor centered around your theme of music, or just use your instruments neatly hanging out on the wall to show off to guests that come over what that room is all about.

Even if you are a music teacher wanting to focus in on decorating a room that you and your students can enjoy, then doing your own color theme of black and white would be a fun choice.

Painting your walls with designs of black and white around the room, you could signify the paper and instrumental notes around on the walls making it fun and enjoyable! The room is bound to have a warm feel to your students no matter what you decide because it has a purpose and is centered around what they are there to learn about!

Home Office

A home office, you got it!  If you work from home most of the time, then having your own room where the daily work, productivity and thinking comes out is nice to have and make your own little slice of heaven.

The great thing about it is you can decorate it however you want, from super pink and girly to tall dark and manly. There are absolutely no bounds to what or how you could make it, but before we get started, where’s the coffee. 🙂

Dog’s play room/bedroom

If you are anything like me and your dog is your only child at the moment  you could spoil him/her with their own room filled with toys and their very own bed!

A little Chest in the corner that holds their toys and bones, a cute paw print rug in the middle of the floor that shows it is a room circled all around them. Adding a little dog bed somewhere in the middle, with their food, water and a jar of some treats up on the dresser.

The possibilities are completely endless, for what you could do for your fur baby.

Exercise Room

If you want to get into shape and enjoy exercising, then building your own exercise room is definitely the way to go! You can get up in the morning, exercise when you get up and save yourself time and gas for driving to the gym. It’s a win, win! 🙂

Storage Room

Using your extra space as a storage room is also a great way to use up the once empty room if you really don’t have the storage space, such as a garage, extra closet, or attic to hide and organize your stuff. Neatly storing them in your spare bedroom is definitely the way to go if you don’t have these options.

Next, place everything in their own designated bins, marking them as what they are and stacking them so they are easily accessible later on down the road when you need to get to them.

Kids Play Room

If you have an extra bedroom that you don’t know what to do with and you have a child, then turning the spare bedroom into a play room would be a great option! 🙂

A room that simply holds all of the toys when it is time to play would be a great option for not having all of the toys laying around in their bedroom.

Home theatre

If you are one of those that absolutely loves to go see movies and experience the theatre as the room shakes. Then why not design and create your very own theatre room experience?

Start off by installing some in home theatre speakers, add in a projector or a big screen tv with some dimmable lights added in to really top it off.

Pull out your room darkening curtains, wall decor and place a few posters of your favorite movies of all time up on your walls.  Don’t forget to place a comfortable loveseat, individual chairs or even just a long wrap around couch into your movie theatre to make the room feel warm and cozy. Now to enjoy the show!

Library

Now this is my dream! If you absolutely love books of all pages and hardcovers, then creating and having your own library room is a great option. Having a room centered around your whimsical world of fairytales to action packed hardcovers maybe an absolute dream come true!

Design this room by placing multiple bookshelves up against the walls circling around the room, (depending on how many books you keep and have stored over the years).

Also, don’t forget to leave a spot for a nice cushy chair or couch by the window to be able to read whenever the sun peeks through. Use a few soft couch pillows, a blanket and to really top the room off, add a nice plush rug.

Craft Room

Last of the 9 spare bedroom ideas.

If you love doing crafts, sewing or quilting, then building your own craft room that you can work in is a wonderful option. Creating your own craft room to hold all of your projects that you create to sell or give away as gifts will give you the space that you need to be able to work in your own solitaire and peaceful place.
