What can I do with a spare bedroom? That is a question that burns in many new home buyers minds or even someone that is renting a home or apartment that has an extra room to play with. There are many unique spare bedroom ideas out there that you can find to create and use your spare bedroom in a way to where it will not be just collecting dust or holding clutter.
Below are some ways that you can use to create and decorate your empty, boring spare bedroom into a space that you can enjoy and use everyday!
Music Room
Music! If you are a musician and love to play your instruments no matter what it is from guitar to piano, to even your drums, then you can create your very own studio room!
Put up some Music posters, fun wall decor centered around your theme of music, or just use your instruments neatly hanging out on the wall to show off to guests that come over what that room is all about.
Even if you are a music teacher wanting to focus in on decorating a room that you and your students can enjoy, then doing your own color theme of black and white would be a fun choice.
Painting your walls with designs of black and white around the room, you could signify the paper and instrumental notes around on the walls making it fun and enjoyable! The room is bound to have a warm feel to your students no matter what you decide because it has a purpose and is centered around what they are there to learn about!
Craft Room
Crafts! I mean who doesn’t love crafts in some shape or form? No matter your crafting hobby, use your empty room to use and hold all of your crafting supplies in a neat and organized fashion. Whether you love to make cards, knit and crochet different projects or even sew, no matter your hobby start creating that bedroom into a place you can enjoy and start creating!

Home Office
A home office, you got it! If you work from home most of the time, then having your own room where the daily work, productivity and thinking comes out is nice to have and make your own little slice of heaven.
The great thing about it is you can decorate it however you want, from super pink and girly to tall dark and manly. There are absolutely no bounds to what or how you could make it, but before we get started, where’s the coffee. 🙂
Kids Play Room
If you have a spare bedroom and some little kiddos, then creating that extra room into a play room is a perfect fit! Not only will it ensure that their room is cleaner but it will also keep your living room and rest of the house nice and clear of toys.
Having a room specifically for a play room will help with the pick up time as well, as you won’t have to search too far for them! 🙂
Wardrobe Room
Using a spare bedroom as a wardrobe room is another great option! I mean it would be almost like a huge walk in closet and what girl doesn’t want a bigger closet. You can organize some shelves along the wall to organize your shoes and have your clothes nice and neatly hanging or folded as well!
Hang or lean a nice mirror against the wall and you are in business.
Beauty Room
Creating a beauty room with a vanity where you can store all of your makeup and hair tools/accessories is another great option! Having a beauty room not only will eliminate the clutter from your bathroom counters and drawers but the lighting will probably be better too.
Family Room
Another unique spare bedroom idea that you can do is to create it into a family room! If you love playing board games, place a nice small table in there along with a couch and tv to either watch movies or play board games throughout the week.
It will be a room that you would not only use every afternoon but it would also hold lots of fun and memories!
Laundry room
A laundry room is another great option! It will be a little bit more work to create, but having a bigger laundry room is something I don’t think any one would not enjoy.
Start by building some nice shelves along the wall to create a good sized laundry room with storage and a place to iron or steam your clothes as well!
There are so many things that you can do to create a nice laundry room. You can use the closet to store your ironing board along with hanging some jackets and coats in there!
Library Room
I will be the first to admit that I am a book nerd. I love to read different kinds of books and someday creating a library with a comfy couch is my goal!
If you love to read books, then this is a great way to use your spare bedroom to it’s max! You can start by placing multiple bookshelves or built in shelves along the walls either circling around the room or just on one wall.
Add a nice cushy chair or couch by the window along with a few soft couch pillows, a blanket and to really top the room off add a nice plush rug.
Last step is to enjoy reading in your new room!
What Can I do with a small Spare Bedroom?
Maybe you are reading this and you are like, well these are great ideas but what can I do with a small spare bedroom? Well, even if it is a small spare bedroom I think that you can still create at least 1 or 2 of these unique spare bedroom ideas. You may not have the space to create it into a music room, but you can always go for a small craft room, wardrobe room or a small library!
The great part is, there are unlimited ideas on what you can do! I just shared a few but I’m sure you will create the perfect unique spare bedroom in your home whether it is a small room or not.
