How to make your living room cozy is one of the many decorating questions when it comes to the home. How to make your living room cozy

1. Throw Blankets

Throw blankets are an easy way to make any room feel cozier. Try draping them over furniture or drape them over your lap while you’re reading a book. If you have hardwood floors, throw blankets are a great way to add some warmth and comfort. Simply fold the blanket in half and place it at the foot of your bed or sofa. Then, when you’re ready to relax, just grab the blanket and snuggle up.

And if you’re feeling really ambitious, you can even sew, crochet, or knit your own throw blanket using cozy fabric like fleece, wool or soft yarn. So go ahead and get cozy! Your home will thank you for it.

2. Throw Pillows

Throw pillows are awesome when it comes to adding a touch of coziness to any room, a must when it comes to making your couch, bed or even just a simple chair look warm and inviting. When you walk into your home throw pillows make a huge impact in your home decor. Yes, they may be simple but simple goes a long way!

3. Wall Art

Wall art is another way of making your living room feel cozy. If you have an empty wall, then the room will look and feel empty. But if you add some wall art or decor onto the walls it makes the room feel a little more closed in and not so empty and bland feeling.

Also, don’t feel like wall art is the only option here. Feel free to hang a nice mirror somewhere along with some nice floating shelves or frame some free wall art prints.

Get creative and add your own charming touch.

4. Area Rug

Area rugs are amazing when it comes to adding to the coziness in your home. This is probably one of my most favorite ways of making my home feel cozy!

Not only do they add color and pattern, but they also help to define different spaces. For example, a large rug in the living room can create a sense of warmth and comfort, while a smaller rug in the entryway can help to welcome guests. Area rugs can also be layered to create added interest and texture. In addition, they can be used to break up a large room or make a small space feel cozier and bigger. By thoughtfully incorporating area rugs, you can create a warm and inviting space that feels like your own personal oasis.

Tip: When choosing an area rug, try and choose warm colors to add to the touch. As warm colors are more of a relaxing and cozy sensation than bright loud colors.

5. Decor Accents

Another fun way to make your home feel and look cozy, is to add some fun decor accents. This is probably my most favorite part for when it comes to making my home feel cozy, other than adding some fun throw pillows on my sofa.

Try adding some fun decor such as trays, books, a small vase, or some cute decor accents.

There is no wrong or right way when it comes to decorating with some accents. Everyone has their own style and things they like to add into their decor. Some people may add a fun rustic lantern to add some charm to their living room and some may add some coastal essentials to their home. It just depends on your style and what you like.

So choose what style and theme you want your home to be and go for it!

6. Plants or Flowers

Another decor necessity to make your home cozy, is having plants or flowers in a vase on a shelf or on the coffee table.

Plants add a great and calming touch to your home and also really adds to the decorating process. To me I love to use fake flowers and plants.

Not only because I have a tendency of forgetting to water them, but because I love to change them out for the different seasons and holidays.

7. Curtains

Turning your home into a haven doesn’t have to be expensive. One simple way to make your home feel cozier is to add curtains. Curtains can help to block out drafts and create a sense of privacy. They can also add color and pattern to a room, helping to give it personality.

When choosing curtains, opt for a heavy fabric that will help to insulate the room. And be sure to hang them as close to the ceiling as possible to maximize their impact. With a few well-chosen curtains, you can transform your home into a cozy retreat.

9. Lighting

Lighting is another thing that many people don’t think of when it comes to making their home feel warm and cozy. There are many options when it comes to light bulb shades and lights in the store, so don’t get overwhelmed.

For me I tend to prefer more of the brighter white lights, than the yellowish hue ones. Only because I feel like the yellowish lights make the room dark and harder on my eyes at night when I am in that particular room. I have found that I like the brighter white lights because they brighten my room better without me feeling like I’m straining my eyes.

Tip: Try adding a fun lamp into your bedroom or living room.

What makes a room Cozy?

Now that we know what we can do to make our living room or home cozy, I want to share with you what makes a room even more cozy? Here are some easy and quick tips! 😉

We all want our living room to feel not only cozy but also inviting whenever your family or friends walk through that door. Here are three of the best and simplest ways to make a home feel more inviting and warm.

Smells

Whether you want to believe it or not smells play a huge roll for when you are trying to make your home feel inviting. I find that the best candles for making your home feel cozy and inviting, is by using more of the baked goods. The candles like Pumpkin pie around the fall is the best candle to use and any of the other smells such as black cherry, sugar cookie or apple pie work wonders as well.

I mean who doesn’t like to walk into a home that smells like baked goods? These are just a few of the best candle smells to use, but definitely experiment with your favorite smell in your home as well.

Natural Light

Light? Yep I said that! The second best way to make a home feel inviting is by using either natural light or using brighter lights around your home. I mean who wants to go into a bat cave of a home where it is dark and gloomy? I know I don’t! There is something about walking into a home that has some beautiful windows that allow natural light to shine through.

So use natural light to your advantage. 🙂

Pops of Color

The last thing that makes your home inviting is pops of color. There are many homes that I have been in that feel inviting and cozy. And the great thing is you don’t have to have a certain style or color scheme to create your own cozy haven.

No matter your color scheme you love, try adding some fun color pops into your everyday decor to create a more cozy home. If you love reds, yellows and more autumn colors then add color schemes with that. If you love neutral colors, then have fun by adding your favorite color into the neutral color mix to add your own pops of color.

For example, when it comes to adding pops of color in my home, I have more neutral colors such as light beiges and cream colors but I like to add a little bit of aqua pops of color into my decor because I love the colors.

There are many ways you can do this in your home too! For instance, if you like more of the rustic, western feel, then I would add small red decor pops of color into your home to add some rustic charm and coziness to your home. You can do this with any decor style you are going for. Just stay consistent with the pops of color and have fun! 🙂

What Colours make a living room Cozy?

The best colors that make a living room cozy are more pastel, light and neutral colors. There are some instances in where a darker color may help make a room feel cozy, but dark colored walls can create more of a gloomy feeling, which is why a lot of decor magazines have lighter and brighter colors.

The best colors for a cozy room would be light neutrals such as: gray, white, tan, cream and light brown.

The best pastel colors would be: Light yellow, pink, blue, and greens. When you think of pastel colors, think of coastal beach colors. 😉

If you tend to like more dark colors there is: blue, gunmetal, maroon, brown. Etc.
